A Ravaged Shore

An angel from heaven
sat with me once
and said nothing.
A demon from hell
sat with me once
and I heard nothing.
You sat with me once
and I could hear nothing else...

How your very thought
torments
my every waking hour.
I am wrought with pain
and wracked with longing for you
in the night.
If god could grant me
but one moment in yours,
I would gladly hand over
this sick and dying soul...
I am losing sight of heaven...

The thick smoke rises
and curls around your fingers
as we sit
and fear for hours to pass.

Upon a ravaged shore I stand
staring.
Within a calm I have never known,
this great sea is moving
with all heaven's force
and I am transfixed upon it.
My body begins toward the waves
and I feel nothing
as breath hangs
in the heavy salt water.
I am below now,
under and in your arms.
My tears blend with the water
and I think this sea
was formed out of crying eyes.
You smile,
and I succumb
to the warm humming in my ears.
Slowly, slowly I sleep now,
with you forever my love...
