The Blank Canvas
The vast and void expanse of time
was coveted by silence, a great God
upon his throne contemplated loneliness,
sadness mourned serenity, escape
was inevitable, the canvas left unpainted
by a masterful artist, drew forth his paints
casting light upon time, darkness became
night, tears became oceans, separating
hues of green.
Seven days continuous, his muse
pondered, colors blended,
swirling madly, paint splashed existence,
images formed, from the depths
of his heart, life began.
____________
The Seed of Reason
A garden oasis of plentiful fruits,
created from the dust of a barren land,
in the likeness of the heavens, the breath
of the garden's life needing the touch of man
to cultivate and keep its glory, there within,
the source of a great river, its waters
as pristine as crystals reflecting
in the sun's great light,
meandered outward to the edges of dawn,
branching into four, enveloping the land
containing every tree of fruit
yielding seed, every green plant
a feast given by God.
A paradise, warm, green, plush in the likeness
of the Heavens, where upon the throne of life
his God looked on, gather thy nourishment
from the Tree of Life but beware, forbidden
is the Tree of Knowledge, set within the midst
of this bewitching world, death is promised
should the man be tempted by its fruits,
which promise the wisdom of good and evil.
An abode for a righteous soul, a euphoric kingdom
to dwell within, so long as he resists
the seduction of his own alluring contemplations,
the longing for reason.

The Tree of Knowledge
In the middle of paradise lay a tree in wait,
its limbs filled with fruits, its aroma enticing
to the soul, the two knew the tree to be wise
in its yield, but knew it was forbidden, as God
had made it so. A serpent spun its branches,
dangled low within its shade, where resting
from the heat and toiling, Eve lay.
Eat and your strength shall be restored
The voice of the serpent foretold, mistruths
slithered upon his tongue into the ear of Eve.
Do ye not wish to sup upon the knowledge
known only by your God?
Temptation, tribulation ran through her,
a hunger that knew not mercy, to its fruits
she succumbed,
served upon his lips her husband fed.
Conciousness crept within the corridors of their minds,
once hidden beneath the gentle cover of God, the first sin
against Him, angered by their submissions, thunder rose,
silenced were the lambs, banished from the kingdom
God had given of his hands.
Child in womb, Eve and Adam fled, promised was the pain
forthcoming in its birth, dealt by the hand of God,
a yearning for her husband in return. The barren lands
before them left for the sweat of Adam's brow,
callused hands blistered by the future promise
of never ending toil, a punishment by their God
for their transgressions, so let it be, man and woman,
husband and wife, begin a God's journey
in the shadow of His conciousness,
into the pains of life.
